I can along in the 50,s and 60,s so i know what loud exhaust is. It sounds like a pair of fiberglass mufflers. I'm not sure exactly how it is accomplished on the 5.7 but have heard here that the engine really comes alive around 4,000 rpm. I've got a 2009 5.7L Challenger. I guess I'm lucky, no strange engine noises at start up or idle. But I do love the sound the engine makes when I go through the gears and the RPM increases. Do not accept abnormal valve train noise from your 2018 Dodge just because your 1971 Mustang is noisy. You are comparing apples to shoes, almost. Part of the reason for moving from solid/mechanical lifters was to reduce/eliminate valve train noise. Beware of the problematic 5.7L Hemi Engines! Having no compression really narrows down the possibilities. Piston/ring issues, broken valve spring, bent or dropped valve If its just one cylinder, I doubt its a cam or timing issue. It shouldn't take a lot of time though, that's easy to diagnose unless your tech is a moron. UDhFhY.
